City of Nottingham Back to Netball League (CNB2NL) like to celebrate the success of the season. Our presentation evenings have grown along with the league.
Our presentations evenings used to be a small room above a bar (when were smaller enough!) to now a large event at a hotel. Our 2016-17 presentation evening was held at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham on Saturday 18th February. We started the evening with a relaxed 3 course meal and a quiz to get everyone talking. The quiz ended in a tie break question between Willow Angels and Southbank Predators. The tie break question was how many goals were scored in division 3 this season. Southbank Predators guessed the closest and won their second bottle of cava of the night. (Their first bottle was for the best table name which was: I have been dumped by whatsapp this week). This then lead us nicely onto our presentation, which was kicked off with a little induction from Ruth Pickthorn, Netball Development Coach. Followed by a motivational talk from Mel Berry, Sport Nottinghamshire and This Girl Can Nottingham. Melanie Finch, CNB2NL Chair then started awards presentation. Awards were given out to the overall Players Players in each division, presentation by Sarah Swift, CNB2NL Fixtures Secretary, overall Umpires player in each division, presentation by Pam Weatherby, Fair Player in each division, Volunteer of the Year both presentation by Mel. Awards were then given to the league winners, Division 3 – Browne Jacobson, Division 2 – Willow Warriors and Division 1 – Southbank Predators. Sue Collin, East Midlands Nottingham, Regional Chair also gave a short speech. The presentation closed with the raffle being drawn. We had some fantastic donations from companies, including a box of London Pale Ale, a box of Pilsner Urquell, a decorator for the day, meal vouchers amongst others. We also had a Crazy Catch competition take place over the evening and the winner of the most completed catches in 1mintue, won an overnight stay with breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham. This came down to a tie break as well! This time between Olga from Browne Jacobson and Dale from Southbank Predators. There was only a couple of catches in it, but Dale managed to clinch the prize! We managed to raise £284.53 from the raffle and crazy catch which will be donated to Cancer Research. The highlight of the evening was the photo booth! Everyone loved taking part and looking back at the photos its hard to try and work out who’s who! Good luck to all the teams that have entered again in the CNB2NL 2017 league which will be running from February – June. Comments are closed.
