On the 1st day JMs started strongly with an epic win against Eagles. With 2 wins under their belt and only losing by 1 goal to Henley this gave us a strong position of playing 7 - 12th positions on day 2. We unfortunately was missing our star Defender Caitlin Urquhart for day 2 to injury, but the girls rallied round and was feeling confident for the day ahead. Start of the day saw a local Deby against MK Netters which was goal for goal until the last 5 mins of the game where MK pulled away. The girls came back strong and went on to beat Chevrons by 2 goals later that morning. Chevrons then went onto beat MK Netters, so we suddenly found ourselves waiting for results based on goal difference. Unfortunately 0.4 of a goal meant that we were playing off for 11th/12th against Grange Town who were a very physical side. We lost the play off by just 2 goals. We are very proud of the girls as we have never been higher than 16th, we were aiming for a top 10 position, but the fact we lost out on goal difference showed how close we were to achieving this goal. We beat Eagles on the first day who went on to finish 7th so it just shows how close all the games were. Our squad has so much potential and they did us proud! Well done girls 12th in the country!!
Quote from Rutland Rockets National finals weekend was a massive challenge, that most were not expecting. We loose sight of the massive achievements we have made in such a small space of time. The higher we climb the further we have to fall. We might not have achieved wins or scores but will achieve development for the future. It's how we dust our selves down get back up and come back fighting. Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around. Loosing isn't always the end, sometimes it's the beginning! We will come back stronger, achieve greater, become better!! We would like to say a massive well done from the Region to both teams on their performances and reaching the Nationals. Comments are closed.
