Division 1
An early start for first game of the season on Sunday came as a bit of a shock to some of the TFC players but the whole team were definitely up for what was to be a closely fought game against local rivals, Hinckley Hurricanes. After a rigorous warm up, the TFC ladies were ready to get on court and begin their Regional League Division 1 campaign. There was a slight alteration to TFC's previous line ups with Jess playing in the middle and Leah making her debut for TFC as Goal Attack. Kirsten played Wing Attack and Sara as Goal Shooter. The defence remained consistently strong with Vicky and Mel playing in the circle and Georgia out at Wing Defence. Although the early stages of the match saw some very promising play from all involved, there were occasions when both teams were a little shaky. This resulted in an 8 - 8 score line at quarter time. TFC knew at this point it was to be a battle through to the end. The second quarter saw TFC pick up their game, demonstrating some inspirational defence and some outstanding shooting. Possesion of the ball was fought hard for with some very positive and effective attacking moves through centre court. TFC managed to maintain their lead throughout the third and fourth quarters despite some fantastic play by Hurricanes. The game ended with a first win of the season for TFC, by a score of 38 - 30. Kirsten Gibson was voted "Player of the Match" by first team coach, Kate for her attacking play and hard work thoughout the game. TFC continue their Regional League Division 1 campaign against Northants JMs in the David Wallace Centre, Loughborough University. Thanks to Rose, Rob, Barry, Abi, Amy and Rachel for officiating and supporting us as always. Division 2
